Liberty Launches Aspen’s Evolution Glass Cockpit Flight Display in XL2
Melbourne, Fl, April 8th 2008 – Liberty Aerospace Inc. announced today that it has contracted with Aspen Avionics to become a launch OEM partner for the Aspen’s Evolution Flight Display 1000 glass cockpit system.
The advanced lightweight and all-digital Evolution Pro Primary Flight Display (PFD) will be offered as standard equipment in the Advanced IFR version of the two-place Liberty XL-2 trainer and touring aircraft. The Aspen Pilot model PFD will be offered as an upgrade option for other configurations of the XL-2.
“After two years searching for a Glass Panel system that would be compatible with our aircraft, we believe the Aspen Evolution PFD is the perfect fit for the FADEC-equipped Liberty XL-2,” commented Keith Markley, President and CEO of Liberty Aerospace. “The Evolution System offers our customers advanced glass cockpit technology at a very attractive price and with a panel design that makes sense.”
Incorporating integral ADAHRS, backup battery, emergency GPS and an altitude alerter, the Aspen series of PFDs offer a highly intuitive display with loads of functionality with almost no learning curve for the pilot.
“The modular Aspen PFD is an innovative design that sets the standard for other glass panel manufacturers to meet.” stated Darrel McMillian, Chief of Avionics Engineering at Liberty.
Liberty will have an Aspen equipped XL-2 on display at Sun ‘n Fun in April, and deliveries of Aspen-equipped XL-2 aircraft are planned to be available in early Summer ‘08.
